Venus will transit its own sign of Libra from Sept. 1, 2018 until Jan. 1, 2019. What’s unique about this transit is that Venus is usually in its own sign for about three to four weeks. This year, however, due to retrograde motion, Venus will be in its own sign for 17 weeks and three days! For most people this is going to be a positive transit. (Planets usually do well when transiting their own sign.)
It should be noted that while Venus will be in retrograde motion Oct. 6 to Nov. 16, for the most part there is no need for concern about this retrograde motion. This is only a visual phenomenon as it occurs due to different speeds of the planets in relation to the earth. Retrograde planets do not necessarily cause adverse effects.
In this case, adverse effects would occur only for those persons who have a functional malefic planet in or aspecting the sign of Libra in their birth chart — and the length of the effect would be relative to the duration of any close influence.
For example, if you have Rahu or Ketu (the north and south nodes of the Moon) in odd signs (Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius or Aquarius) then Venus would be under their influence whenever Venus is within five degrees of Rahu or Ketu, by aspect or conjunction.
Adverse effects aside, for the most part Venus in Libra is favorable for women, romance, luxuries, medicine, entertainment and the fine, healing and performing arts.
