Planetary Transits for August 17– August 23

In Memoriam:

NOTE FROM DAVID: My dear mentor and Vedic astrology guru for the past 20 years, Professor V.K. Choudhry, (Gurgaon, India) passed away peacefully on August 11th after a short illness. Having written 14 books on the “Systems’ Approach to Vedic Astrology” and having trained more than 800 astrologers in 40 countries worldwide, he completed his earthly karma and is now most certainly in Brahmaloka, the abode of the gods.

Like Sage Vyasa, who standardized the Vedas and composed the Brahma Sutras, Puranic literature, and the Mahabharata (which includes the Bhagavad Gita), Professor Choudhry, too, was the embodiment of Mercury – and with focus and divine inspiration – standardized Vedic astrology for contemporary societies everywhere.

Professor Choudhry left a tremendous legacy for astrologers worldwide. Those practicing his “Systems’ Approach to Vedic Astrology” paradigm will be tomorrow’s leading astrologers – who will be eternally grateful for his guidance and the divine light he shined on the field of astrology.

Let us carry on his work and build a larger Systems’ Approach foundation so that future generations will be able to follow in Professor Choudhry’s footsteps — giving accurate, relevant, practical and replicable astrological advice that leads to peace of mind and purpose of life.

David Hawthorne, President, International Institute of Predictive Astrology.

P.S.  Here is what the founder of SAMVA (Systems’ Approach to Mundane Astrology) beautifully said about Professor Choudhry:

NOTE FROM ME: I have known Professor Choudhry for many, many years and his guidance will be very missed. He was one of the most amazingly supportive and patience mentors I will ever have the pleasure of knowing. I will always strive to make him proud in my work of bringing this knowledge to people everywhere. Rest in peace, Professor.

The first part of this newsletter describes the position of the (Vedic astrology) planets this week.

The second part describes the impact of the transit planets for each rising sign.

Notes: Sun is closely conjunct Rahu and under the 7th aspect of Ketu — which causes enormous stress on leaders and governments everywhere. (Note the recent clashes in Charlottesville, VA.)  Relief is not likely before Aug. 21st.

We remain in the 2-week period between the lunar eclipse on August 7th and the solar eclipse on August 21st.

This period is not ideal worldwide. (Watch for news about highly placed persons.)

With regard to viewing the eclipse: “According to spiritual pundits, it may be better to fast, meditate, listen to Vedic chants, and stay indoors”.

Do not start any new or important projects during an eclipse; the day is better suited for introspection and spiritual progress.  Additionally, the affliction of Rahu and Ketu to Sun and Moon may also cause issues with the heart, stomach and digestion, so it is better to avoid stress and food for about 3 hours to cover the start, middle and end of the eclipse.

You can find out the exact time of the eclipse for your location at this website: www.timeanddate.com/eclipse. Just enter your city and state.

For Fairfield, Iowa, the eclipse begins at 11:45 a.m., with the maximum eclipse at 1:12 p.m., and end of the eclipse at 2:37 p.m.

Here is a note from Professor Choudhry’s son, who is assuming his father’s astrology practice and responsibilities: “The Sun is going to transit in the sign Leo, it will be utterly weak and under close affliction of the nodes between 16th August to 19th August. This period is especially vulnerable for persons born in Virgo, Pisces and Capricorn ascendants. Take care”. K. Rajesh Chaudhary

WHERE THE (VEDIC ASTROLOGY) PLANETS ARE THIS WEEK:

Sun transits Leo, from 00:23 to 07:07. Sun is closely conjunct Rahu, and under the 7th aspect of Ketu until Aug. 21. Leaders, governments, physicians, and administrators should get extra rest and exercise care and patience. Take care of your father, watch your heart and digestion, and be vigilant around authority figures.

Moon is waning and transits Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo and into Virgo.  The new Moon is in Leo,August 21 at 12:29 p.m. CDT.

Mars transits its debilitation sign, Cancer, from 23:40 to 28:08°. Mars is weak in its debilitation sign until August 26th. This is not ideal for the police, military, athletes, surgeons, construction, engineering, property matters, et al. Floods, explosions, volcanoes, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. are possible.

Mercury transits Leo, from 16:44 to 12:04. Mercury is outside the orb of influence of other planets, but is co-dependent on the strength of its dispositor (landlord), which is the afflicted Sun. This may not be ideal for stocks, business, technology, communications, etc.

Mercury is in retrograde motion August 12 – September 4. Contrary to popular belief, this is not a problem for most rising signs.  The adverse effects are primarily for Aries, Libra and Aquarius rising sign persons – and only when Mercury is within 5 degrees of their rising sign degree or another planet by aspect or conjunction. For other persons, the adverse effects are only when Mercury is conjunct or under the aspect of a functional malefic planet (applicable to their own charts).

Jupiter transits Virgo, from 25:19 to 26:30°.  Jupiter is outside the orb of influence of other planets, which should be helpful for law, religion and education. Aries, Libra, and Aquarius rising sign persons, however, should be careful and patient as Jupiter is transiting their 6th, 12th, and 8th (inauspicious) houses, respectively – until September 11th.

Venus transits out of Gemini and into Cancer, August 20 at 11:23 p.m. CDT.  Venus is outside the orb of influence of other planets, but is weak in degrees until August 25. Take care of the women in your life and be easy with the arts, entertainment, luxuries, and transportation.

Saturn transits Scorpio, from 27:08 to 27:04°.  Saturn is in retrograde motion until Aug. 25th. The adverse effects are primarily for Cancer, Virgo and Pisces rising signs – whenever Saturn is within 5 degrees of the person’s rising sign degree (in any house), or another planet by conjunction or aspect.

Saturn remains in Scorpio until October 26th. Aries, Gemini, and Sagittarius rising sign persons should be careful and patient as Saturn is in their 8th, 6th, and 12th (inauspicious) houses, respectively.

Saturn is under the 5th aspect of Rahu until Nov. 6 and is weak in degrees until Dec. 12th.  This is not helpful for the elderly, the poor and needy, and working-class persons.  Watch for issues relative to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, as well as for immigration, agriculture, manufacturing, health care, the environment, and the oil, gas and minerals industries.

In the SAMVA chart/horoscope* for USA, Saturn’s transit causes serious issues relative to debts, setbacks, accidents, health and legal issues and even deathlike experiences through October. Be vigilant, take care of your family, and avoid stressful people and situations. *Systems’ Approach to Mundane Astrology.

Rahu and Ketu transit Leo and Aquarius, respectively, from 00:07 to 00:06°.  Rahu and Ketu are stationary in the 0°range until September 8th.  Those persons with 0 – 2° rising signs or with any planet at 0 – 2° in odd signs (Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, or Aquarius) should be careful and patient. Additionally, those persons with 28 to 30° rising signs or with any planet in the 28 to 30 to 28°range in even signs (Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn or Pisces (including USA) should also be careful and patient.

Whenever Rahu and Ketu are stationary for 3 months, the difficulties intensify. The 1st month the person says, “something is wrong”. The 2nd month the person says, “something is seriously wrong.” The 3rd month, the person seeks legal, medical, financial, spiritual, psychological or astrological or help. Those doing planetary remedies will have smoother sailing.
